APA SF is dedicated to providing opportunities for women in the photo field to build a stronger, more aware, and better connected community. When acclaimed artists' rep Brooke Embry attended the recent APA LA women's event, and she suggested we do a similar one here, we enthusiastically agreed.
Brooke teamed up with two other highly successful reps, Heather Elder and Marianne Campbell to organize this special program. Together, they lined up an exceptional West Coast panel, which will be moderated by Jigisha Bouverat, who also moderated the popular APA LA event.

Reasons for this event:

• To celebrate community

• To create connections

• To develop support

• To answer questions

More event details are now posted below.

PANELISTS:

Aisha Hakim - Art Director, Venables Bell & Partners  www.aishamadeit.com

Elisabeth Caren - Photographer, www.ecarenphoto.com

Jennifer Davick - Director /  Photographer, www.jenniferdavick.com

Heather Michaels - Freelance Producer

MODERATOR:

Jigisha Bouverat - Former Art Producer, Agent/Owner of Bouverat Collective www.bouveratcollective.com

Why this event is important:

• Central themes in conversations tend to be women (and artists in general) wondering what everyone else is doing and what their experience is.

• Female artists, more so than male artists, do not create or attend gatherings of peers, so we are here to discuss why that is -- if for no other reason than to penetrate isolation and facilitate development and distribution of resources for our community.

More event details are now posted below.

Among others, we'll be discussing these questions about the photo industry:

• Do you feel there are challenges specific to being a woman in this industry?
• What do you feel is the current status of women in the industry?
• Do you feel there are opportunities specific to women?
• Have you heard of the female-only listing sites, such as: F Collective, Already Made and Free The Bid?
• Do you have ideas/suggestions for how female artists can be part of the bid process in larger numbers?

Among others, we'll also be discussing these questions about family and community:

• What do you feel are the challenges of mothers in our industry today?
• How can we help each other?
• How can we better create a sense of community?
• How can we develop and nurture resources?
• How can we help the next generation of artists, creatives, producers?
